Job Overview:

SUMMARY

Analyze and handle various mechanical engineering matters, including diagnosing and resolving production problems, assessing and implementing the optimal layout and integration of machinery, and designing components and tooling-related items for the Company's machinery. Manage engineering personnel, approve drawings and lead various mechanical engineering projects through completion for all locations. Must be willing to travel. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

This position requires the customary and regular exercise of discretion and independent judgment in the performance of the following essential duties:

  • Analyzing and preparing calculations and drawings for machinery components, tooling-related items, and spatial layouts of machinery, utilizing professional software (Solid Works, Premium & Auto CAD).
  • Evaluating/assessing the components needed to design or modify equipment. 
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting the plant’s short-term and long-term engineering needs.
  • Developing procedures to improve plant safety, productivity and operation, consistent with engineering considerations and best practices.
  • Managing/overseeing the installation of mechanical equipment and training mechanics in the use and interpretation of equipment. 
  • Identifying and assessing manufacturing problems, analyzing relevant data, and proposing and implementing solutions. 
  • Addressing engineering concerns and emergencies at a moment’s notice.
  • Assessing and then directing the corporate Machine Shop on the material grade and bar stock for parts to get the optimal production from tooling equipment. 
  • Analyzing and collaborating with the Machine Shop Supervisor regarding tolerances, material specifications, and the implementation of end results. 
  • Present at operations management meetings
  • Developing and handling mechanical-engineering relating projects through completion.
  • Manage and oversee storm water reporting.
  • Develop product drawings in coordination with Technical Services. 
  • Other mechanical-engineering projects may be assigned as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE 

Educational experience requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. On a case-by-case basis, the Company will consider individuals with the equivalent practical knowledge to this degree.

 

Five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment. 


SKILLS

Language: Effective verbal/written communication is a priority. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals/periodicals. Respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, and the public.

Computer: Strong working knowledge in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Solid Works, Standard. Startsheet knowledge as Administrator/Owner.

Reasoning: Ability to critically assess mechanical engineering issues, identify and evaluate options for resolution, and trouble-shoot and resolve problems, all the while dealing with a variety of challenging variables. Exercise independent discretion and judgement in performing job duties. 

Other: Organizational and planning skills are a plus.


 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

E.I.T license and Professional Engineering Certification is preferred. Lean Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), GD&T (ASME Y14.5) training/certification, and SolidWorks (CSWA/CSWP) certification are a plus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
