Description

SUMMARY

Research, plan, and design mechanical and electro-mechanical products and systems within budget and time constraints. Design work will focus on vacuum heat-treating furnaces. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:

  • Designs vacuum furnaces ensuring they are safe, cost effective, energy efficient and designed to ease future maintenance and repairs.
  • Performs necessary calculations to ensure sound engineering design decisions.
  • Completes equipment design efficiently to maintain project timeline. Reports on current project status and accurately estimates timeline for remaining work.
  • Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Creates drawings and bills of material related to each job or project. Supports manufacturing on the floor on any problems related to the various jobs and/or projects.
  • Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Maintains all documentation related to each project ensuring compliance with Ipsen and ISO standard procedures (checklists, engineering release forms, etc.).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in mechanical engineering or related field required 
  • 3-5 years’ experience with mechanical equipment design and/or training or equivalent combination of experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


COMPUTER SKILLS

Experience in 3-D drawing utilizing Autodesk Products (Inventor, AutoCAD and Vault), word processing, spreadsheets, and must have ability to interface with resident business system (Syteline). 


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.


OTHERS SKILLS AND ABILITIES

May be required to travel to other Ipsen locations and/or customer locations during preorder, order execution, systems installation, troubleshooting or other. Good communications skills are required in a team-oriented, entrepreneurial environment. Projects demand balancing urgency with sensitivity to customer needs and budget implications.
