Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of NOV’s products, customers, and business operations  
  • Contribute to the design and development of new products and enhancements to existing systems 
  • Improve product performance, reliability, and efficiency through innovative engineering solutions 
  • Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing) 
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical decision-making 
  • Take ownership of assigned work and drive execution to completion 
  • Apply sound engineering judgment and take calculated risks while continuously learning and sharing knowledge 

Work Scope

  • Support the full product lifecycle: concept, design, analysis, testing, validation, commercialization, and sustaining engineering 
  • Work on MDT surface product lines including sensors, gas detection systems, data acquisition, and control systems 
  • Participate in supplier selection, prototype development, testing, and manufacturing support 
  • Conduct field testing and validation at customer sites (rigs, offshore platforms, drillships) 
  • Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation (drawings, assemblies, and systems) using CAD and PLM tools 
  • Collaborate with project managers on planning, scheduling, and risk management 
  • Gain working knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems 

Required Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering 
  • Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo (Pro/E) 
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 standards 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 

Preferred / Beneficial Skills

  • Product lifecycle management experience 
  • Experience managing complex assemblies and large bills of materials 
  • Knowledge of GD&T 
  • Experience with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding, casting, assembly) 
  • Experience with structural analysis using FEA tools (Creo Simulation, SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS) and hand calculations 
  • Ability to develop load paths and free-body diagrams 
  • Experience with flow or thermal analysis tools (e.g., CFDesign or similar)
