Primary Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of NOV’s products, customers, and business operations
- Contribute to the design and development of new products and enhancements to existing systems
- Improve product performance, reliability, and efficiency through innovative engineering solutions
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, electrical, software, manufacturing)
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to technical decision-making
- Take ownership of assigned work and drive execution to completion
- Apply sound engineering judgment and take calculated risks while continuously learning and sharing knowledge
Work Scope
- Support the full product lifecycle: concept, design, analysis, testing, validation, commercialization, and sustaining engineering
- Work on MDT surface product lines including sensors, gas detection systems, data acquisition, and control systems
- Participate in supplier selection, prototype development, testing, and manufacturing support
- Conduct field testing and validation at customer sites (rigs, offshore platforms, drillships)
- Develop and maintain detailed engineering documentation (drawings, assemblies, and systems) using CAD and PLM tools
- Collaborate with project managers on planning, scheduling, and risk management
- Gain working knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality systems
Required Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Creo (Pro/E)
- Ability to read, interpret, and create drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 standards
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred / Beneficial Skills
- Product lifecycle management experience
- Experience managing complex assemblies and large bills of materials
- Knowledge of GD&T
- Experience with manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, welding, casting, assembly)
- Experience with structural analysis using FEA tools (Creo Simulation, SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS) and hand calculations
- Ability to develop load paths and free-body diagrams
- Experience with flow or thermal analysis tools (e.g., CFDesign or similar)
