Mechanical Engineer
Who We Are
We are an early-stage robotics startup based in Austin, Texas, focused on developing rugged, scalable robotic systems for use in hazardous environments. Our technology supports firefighting, emergency response, public safety, oil and gas, defense, and industrial applications.
Our mission is to deliver reliable, high-performance robots that operate in extreme, real-world conditions and help solve critical challenges faced by frontline teams.
Backed by leading venture firms, we are working closely with major organizations across the United States, including fire departments, law enforcement agencies, industrial operators, and military units.
As a small, high-performing team, we are currently developing the next generation of our platform and moving toward full-scale production. This is a unique opportunity to join at an early stage and play a key role in shaping both the product and the company.
The Opportunity
This is a highly hands-on Mechanical Engineer role where you will own the design, development, and integration of systems that must perform in demanding environments such as high heat, water exposure, and debris-heavy conditions.
You will work across the full product lifecycle—from concept through to production and field deployment—collaborating closely with a cross-functional team. This role offers significant ownership, autonomy, and the opportunity to make high-impact engineering decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and develop mechanical systems through all stages of product maturity
- Design and model components and assemblies using 3D CAD
- Rapidly prototype and iterate designs to validate concepts and performance
- Perform engineering analysis to ensure structural integrity, reliability, and manufacturability
- Create detailed drawings and assembly documentation using GD&T principles
- Lead and contribute to design reviews and cross-functional problem-solving
- Work with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure quality and feasibility
- Develop and execute test plans; conduct root cause analysis on failures
- Design and build fixtures, tooling, and test setups as needed
- Support system assembly, integration, and production activities
- Document design decisions, test results, and engineering recommendations
- Engage with end users when needed to better define requirements and improve designs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis for complex systems
- Experience working across the full product lifecycle, from concept to production
