This position is part of Novanta’s ATI Industrial Automation business unit. ATI is the world’s leading developer of robotic end-of-arm technologies. Summary

As a Mechanical Engineer, you’ll interrogate and enhance the designs of existing mechanical products and systems. You’ll focus on designing cost reduction solutions while ensuring the functionality and quality of our products. Your role will also involve investigating existing product challenges and implementing improvements that ensure customer satisfaction.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implementing product improvement and cost savings projects for legacy products
  • Investigating technical problems, proposing solutions, and making recommendations.
  • Designing, prototyping, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components for customer-driven product development projects.
  • Preparing and reviewing technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and clients to achieve project goals on time and within budget.

General Tasks

  • Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the QEHS officer.

Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field with 2-5 years’ experience in mechanical design and testing.
  • Be proficient in using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software for design and modeling, preferably SolidWorks.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ASME Y14.5 – 2009 Standards (GD&T)
  • Demonstrated ability to design-for-manufacturing and design-for-testability.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective project management, communication, and presentation abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and practices

  • Less than 10%
