Privately owned company is seeking
a skilled CAD Drafter / Designer with experience designing and detailing dimensional enclosures and fabricated assemblies. This role is responsible for creating accurate 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and production documentation using SolidEdge or SolidWorks. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, understands enclosure fabrication, and can work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to support custom and production projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models for dimensional enclosures, panels, and fabricated components.
- Develop manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, BOMs, and supporting documentation.
- Modify and update existing designs based on engineering changes and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and project teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
- Maintain drawing standards, revision control, and CAD file organization.
- Support prototype development and production troubleshooting as needed.
- Review specifications, measurements, and layouts to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
- Assist with design improvements for product performance, manufacturability, and efficiency.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of CAD drafting or mechanical design experience preferred.
- Proficiency with either:
- Experience designing dimensional enclosures, sheet metal components, or fabricated assemblies preferred.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with electrical or industrial enclosures.
- Knowledge of GD&T and drafting standards.
- ERP or PLM system experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with CNC manufacturing processes.
