Purpose and Essential Duties

The Mechanical Designer supports the Senior and Lead Mechanical Designer, Mechanical Engineers of record (PE) and the team assisting with project production.

Mechanical Designer’s responsibilities include basic mechanical calculations and REVIT drawing skills.   Specific responsibilities include:

  • Prepare drawings for mechanical systems that include ductwork and pipe routing and sizing.
  • Preform basic load calculations and ventilation calculations.
  • Attend owner, contractor and architect meetings independently or with design professionals. Assist with preparing meeting notes.
  • Conduct site surveys to determine existing conditions independently or with engineering personnel.
  • Assist in coordinating projects with architect, mechanical, electrical plumbing and fire protection disciplines.
  • Assist and attend independently or with engineering personnel, construction meetings with job site observations confirming compliance with project  plans and specifications.
  • Attend in-house training sessions.

Required Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • 2+ years engineering experience
  • Detail oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of internship or mechanical design experience for a mechanical or architectural firm(s)
  • EIT certificate

Travel Requirements -local with some out of town travel on a per project basis, approximately 35% to 40% of the time.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

  • Sitting or standing at desk with moderate moving
  • Occasional walking, standing, climbing on stairs on job sites.
