Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development
Plans, conducts, and technically directs projects or phases of significant projects.
- Analyzes, evaluates and plans method of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of
- complex technical problems
- Establishes and defines the theoretical basis and principles which should apply, the empirical test
- procedures to be used and the estimated time, expenses, and manpower for completion
- Reviews project progress and evaluates results
- Recommends corrections in technical applications and analysis
- Specifies materials, equipment and supplies required for completion of technical projects
- Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
May provide technical consultation to technical staff, other organizations and management at senior levels
Uses skill as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company
policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
Interacts with senior internal employees. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments
Due to the type of work at facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a “US Person” (US Citizens, US Nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees or refugees)

Education and Experience:

BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering
5-7 years in a mechanical design role

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

2D and 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.), Standard ANSI drafting practices
Familiarity with production methods
Significant finite element analysis
Familiarity with underwater Acoustics a plus
