Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development
  • Plans, conducts, and technically directs projects or phases of significant projects.
    • Analyzes, evaluates and plans method of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of
    • complex technical problems
    • Establishes and defines the theoretical basis and principles which should apply, the empirical test
    • procedures to be used and the estimated time, expenses, and manpower for completion
    • Reviews project progress and evaluates results
    • Recommends corrections in technical applications and analysis
    • Specifies materials, equipment and supplies required for completion of technical projects
    • Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services
  • May provide technical consultation to technical staff, other organizations and management at senior levels
  • Uses skill as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company
  • policies and procedures; resolves a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways
  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Demonstrates good judgement in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Interacts with senior internal employees. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments
  • Due to the type of work at facility and certain access restrictions, successful applicants must be a “US Person” (US Citizens, US Nationals, lawful permanent residents, asylees or refugees)

Education and Experience:

  • BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering
  • 5-7 years in a mechanical design role

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 2D and 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.), Standard ANSI drafting practices
  • Familiarity with production methods
  • Significant finite element analysis
  • Familiarity with underwater Acoustics a plus

  • Quality Systems
