Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineer to support the design, development, and continuous improvement of custom HVAC doors, panels and viewports. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop custom solutions, improve production processes, and ensure product quality and performance standards are met.

Job Duties: 

• Design and develop custom HVAC access doors and wall panels using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Create and manage detailed engineering drawings for both customers and manufacturing.
• Collaborate with sales, production, and customers to define technical requirements and develop custom solutions.
• Provide engineering support during the quoting process, including design feasibility, cost estimation and customer specific modifications.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to the Sales team during customer visits, both in-person and virtual, and help to identify customer needs and new business opportunities. 
• Work with manufacturing to ensure designs are optimized for fabrication, assembly, and cost-efficiency.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address quality or performance issues.
• Stay updated with HVAC industry standards, codes, and best practices (e.g., AMCA, UL, ASHRAE).
• Participate in R&D projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in product design or manufacturing engineering, preferably in HVAC or sheet metal fabrication.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal fabrication, welding, and finishing.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on custom, one-off projects.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems is a plus.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with insulated panels, gasket sealing, hinges, latches, or acoustic/thermal testing.
• Understanding of airflow, pressure testing, or thermal performance in HVAC systems.
