Job Overview:

Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Corona, California

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform product testing and analyze failures to identify root causes and recommend effective design improvements.
  • Evaluate product feasibility and contribute to design concept development from initial idea through final execution.
  • Interpret engineering sketches, technical drawings, and specifications to determine design requirements including dimensions, tolerances, materials, and functional fit.
  • Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and sales teams to ensure product performance, manufacturability, and design intent are achieved.
  • Develop detailed layout sketches and perform engineering calculations involving dimensions, angles, weights, surface areas, clearances, and load requirements.
  • Analyze mechanical forces including tension, compression, and bending to ensure components are designed for operational durability and reliability.
  • Create detailed multi-view drawings of parts and assemblies, including specifications such as gear ratios, bearing loads, and motion interactions.
  • Modify and optimize designs to improve performance, reduce manufacturing issues, and enhance overall product efficiency.
  • Inspect and measure components and machinery prior to production to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and quality standards.
  • Utilize CAD and computer-aided drafting software to design, model, and refine mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Lead and coordinate design reviews, engineering discussions, and technical meetings with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop manufacturing-ready drawings from initial concept through final production release.
  • Partner with suppliers to resolve production challenges and support new product development initiatives.
  • Communicate technical information clearly to customers, engineers, and sales teams, providing engineering support as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations for both internal stakeholders and external clients.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.

Experience

  • 3–7+ years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • Experience working with product testing, failure analysis, and design validation.
  • Background in manufacturing environments or production support strongly preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including production, sales, and suppliers.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations related to loads, stress, tolerances, and motion.
  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
  • Familiarity with machining, fabrication, and assembly processes.
