JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Assembler
DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing
REPORTS TO: Assembly Team Coordinator
DIRECT REPORTS: None
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible leading the assembly of components and sub-assemblies of metal parts according to job packets/blueprints, with ability to plan and perform large and complex assemblies with the ability to direct others with minimum supervision.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Studies job packet for accuracy, notifying appropriate individuals (Team Coordinator or Engineering Liaison) of any errors.
- Studies blueprints to establish logical assembly sequence, at times for multiple jobs.
- Responsible for directing a team of individuals working on a given assembly job.
- Assists in the assembly of assigned jobs.
- Performs spot inspections throughout assembly process to assure product is being assembled correctly the first time and that the job is on schedule according to established due dates.
- Returns all excess parts for restocking at completion and shipment of a job.
- Maintains clean and safe work area.
- Operates power tools such as band saw, drill press, grinder, and belt sander.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Associates Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree.
- One year of previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Previous blueprint reading experience.
- Ability to read a ruler, tape measure, caliper and micrometer.
- Knowledge of numbers and dimensions.
- Proficient with the use of small hand tools.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Vision (near, distance, color).
- Regularly required to talk and hear.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers,
- Frequently stand and walk.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment.
- Frequent reaching above shoulders, bending, and climbing.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
