Job Overview:

Job purpose
The Mechanical Assembler / Fabricator is responsible for assembling and fabricating mechanical parts, pieces, or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications. Duties and responsibilities
· Assemble using blueprints, work orders, and/or written instructions.
· Assemble large industrial cranes and rail service equipment with specialized requirements.
· Use hand tools, magnetic drills, grinders, air tools, presses, and weld equipment to assemble product.
· Use measurement devices such as tape measures, plumb bobs, and leaves to build within designed tolerances.
· Layout preparation for subassemblies.
· Operate fork trucks and all overhead cranes.
· Enter work order information using PC terminals located in the shop.
· Follow all safety guidelines and safe operating procedures for all equipment.
· Collaborate with various engineering groups to troubleshoot and resolve design issues.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Weld fabrication experience preferred.
· Experience in the crane or heavy equipment manufacturing industry preferred.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
· Must possess basic computer knowledge that includes the ability to operate a keyboard and navigate between screens within a software application.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities
Working conditions
Work is performed within a factory setting around moving mechanical parts and high precarious places. The noise level in the work environment can reach high. Some conditions require work from an elevated position (i.e. on a ladder, on personnel lift.)
Physical requirements
The physical requirements to safely perform the duties of this position include: Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, reaching, crouching, good hand/eye coordination for material handling, touching surfaces to assess quality, gripping vibrating and rotary tools, climbing up/down ladders, verbal communication, and listening to directions. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
