Job Summary

The Mechanical Assembler is responsible for assembling complex mechanical components and subassemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and industry standards. Working in a precision sheet metal manufacturing environment, this role plays a critical part in ensuring high-quality mechanical builds that meet AS9100 standards. The Mechanical Assembler collaborates with production, quality, and engineering teams to deliver products that meet customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • **Mechanical Assembly **- Interpret and follow detailed mechanical drawings, blueprints, and assembly instructions.

    • Assemble sheet metal enclosures, frames, brackets, and mechanical hardware using hand and power tools.
    • Install components such as bearings, fasteners, motors, panels, hinges, and other mechanical parts.
    • Torque fasteners to specifications and perform precision alignments as needed.
  • Quality Assurance- Conduct in-process quality checks to verify fit, alignment, and function of assembled components.

    • Identify non-conforming parts or assemblies and report issues to quality or supervision.
    • Ensure all assembled parts meet internal and customer specifications.
    • Complete assembly documentation, inspection forms, and routing sheets.
  • **Production Support **- Communicate assembly challenges or missing components to supervisors or material handlers.

    • Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams for technical guidance or issue resolution.
    • Maintain pace with production schedules and prioritize work based on workflow needs.
  • Tools & Equipment Use- Utilize basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions.

    • Operate drills, riveters, torque wrenches, and other hand tools in a safe and effective manner.
    • Maintain tools and workstations in clean, organized condition.
  • Safety & Housekeeping- Follow all safety guidelines, including PPE use and proper tool handling.

    • Keep work areas clean and free of debris or trip hazards.
    • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
    • Participate in ongoing safety meetings and improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED required.

    • 1–2 years of mechanical assembly experience preferred, ideally in manufacturing or aerospace.
    • Experience in a precision sheet metal or AS9100 environment is a plus.
  • Skills & Competencies- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
    • Basic knowledge of assembly tools and measuring instruments.
    • Excellent attention to detail and quality standards.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work Environment

  • Work is performed on the production floor with exposure to machinery, metal materials, and moderate noise.

    • Requires standing, walking, lifting, pushing, and pulling materials up to 50 lbs.
    • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching may be required.
  • Schedule- 1st

    Shift Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday

    • 2nd

      Shift Hours: 2:15 PM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday

    • Some flexibility may be required based on production needs

  • Compensation- Hourly Range: $18-23 per hour

    • Benefits include shared-cost health care, paid holidays, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match after a waiting period.
