Job Description:
BW Papersystems is looking for talented Mechanical Assemblers, who will plan and perform a normal range of operations connected with the assembly of complex sections and erection of company-produced machines. Being responsible for the mechanical assembly of box-making machines; of which are comprised of feeding, facing/corrugating, cutting, slitting/scoring, shearing, and stacking, sections, and related units in accordance with design specifications.
Responsibilities/Complexities:
Working from complex assembly drawings and a considerable number of component parts that require skill and care to align, fit, and assemble into units and obtain exacting operating performance and appearance.
Assemble complex sections of machines to customer specifications; attach unit to assembly, subassembly or frame using various hand and power tools.
Perform complex mechanical assembly operations to exacting tolerances; position and align parts using fixtures, jigs, and templates
Work with rotating shafts, gear trains, mechanical structures, and sprockets. Drill, tap, ream, countersink, and spot face bolt holes in parts; file, lap and buff parts to fit; clean and lubricate parts and subassemblies.
Use measuring instruments to level and align work, detect, and eliminate run-out, work to close tolerances with a demand for square, concentricity, and parallelism.
Detect defective material, unusual conditions, or operating difficulties; provide necessary documentation to drive corrective actions.
Collaborate with other departments to remedy corrective actions or quality issues and to suggest design changes or improvements
Assist as necessary to maintain proper flow of work through assigned area; participate in training less experienced associates
Complete necessary documentation to ensure quality and production requirements.
Assist in generating and updating standard work instructions/procedures, train others on proper procedures
Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
Maintain work areas and equipment in clean, orderly, and safe fashion
Perform other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications and Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3+ years’ experience operating various hand and power tools involved with mechanical assembly.
AND/OR
Certification or 2-year degree related to Mechanical Assembly or Mechanical Repair.
