Position Summary
The Mechanical & Systems Engineering Manager will provide proactive leadership for the mechanical and systems engineering team in the assessment, design, execution, and support of multi-year, complex computing products. This role will require multi-disciplanary and cross-functional coordination within the organization to complete projects on-time and within budget.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the research, design, documentation, and support activities of a team of system and mechanical engineers
- Provide project management support, including working with PMs and reporting to senior management on critical schedules, delays, resource shortages, and risk management opportunities
- Ability to assess large, complex inquiries from customers and the ability to estimate resources required without complete product definition
- Capability to contribute at any level within the organization, including design, documentation, vendor communication, inspection, and qualification of products and services
- Create appropriate process documentation related to integration efforts
- Familiarity with reliability metrics and regulatory compliance best practices and capability to coordinate with compliance engineering as appropriate
- Coordinate with purchasing and manufacturing for management and timely implementation of quoted solutions and appropriate documentation
- Support Trenton’s manufacturing facility as required, providing support on technical issues
- Attempt to identify improvements in efficiency in processes and improvements in products and services and provide input to continuous improvement team

Requirements
Required (must have)
- BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 8+ years in mechanical engineering and electronics packaging.
- 3+ years of progressive leadership, leading and managing a team
- Exceptional Communication skills
- Ability to direct a team to complete projects on time and within budget.
- Capable of contributing at all levels of mechanical and systems engineering tasks throughout the organization.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
- Strong people leadership and setting ambition direction and delivering results
Desired (nice to have)
- MS in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience with electronics packaging and components, including power supplies, EMI and regulatory compliance, and rugged design practices.
- Familiarity with military standards (e.g. MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-810, DO-160)
