Job Overview:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

General description of main/primary duties and responsibilities of the job, aptitude, level of complexity, span of control, autonomy, decision making and judgement. It is central and necessary to the satisfactory performance of the job. Includes the following and other duties as assigned.

Under general supervision, this position will:

  • Safely and in compliance, service, maintain and repair mechanical oil and gas engines and associated production equipment to support continuous field operations.
  • Perform skilled mechanical work including operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, diagnosing malfunctions, completing preventative and maintenance repairs on production equipment.
  • Maintain vapor recovery units (VRUs) through oil changes and other routine maintenance activities to ensure reliable equipment performance.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance on gas compressor packages including engine oil analysis, compressor oil analysis and related recordkeeping.
  • Inspect gauges, dials and other operating indicators to verify equipment is functioning safely and properly. Make adjustments as needed to equipment or report unusual conditions to the foreman.
  • Diagnose failures on oil well service equipment, determine the extent of repairs needed, and conduct root cause failure analysis on failed equipment.
  • Manage inventory control by ordering parts, maintain access to proper tools and ensure adequate supplies are available to complete assigned work.
  • Maintain open communication with Production Operators, partner with employees and contractors, and support peak equipment efficiency across production operations.
  • Prepare and submit accurate maintenance reports, work orders, expense reports, time sheets and other required daily paperwork, while following proper procedures for leaks, spills and remediation.
  • Make recommendations to the Supervisor to improve equipment lifecycle and production operations and provide support to the Production team as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Experience, Licensure (minimum level required)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five (5) years of experience performing mechanical maintenance on rotating equipment used in oil and gas producing operations.
  • At least three (3) years of Vapor Recovery Units (VRU) and Reciprocating Compressors experience.

  • Ability to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures in field operations and maintenance activities.
  • Functional electrical, mechanical and computer knowledge relevant to production equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Working operational knowledge of engines, oil wells, compressors and related component functions.
  • Fundamental understanding of basic production operations equipment such as separators, dehydration units and associated systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply maintenance concepts, practices, troubleshooting methods and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve equipment issues.
  • Good operational knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair methods and maintenance requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel and Word and the ability to use standard office equipment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to complete and submit accurate reports and work effectively with operators, employees and contractors.
  • Ability to effectively work independently with minimal supervision while remaining detail-oriented, self-motivated and focused on assigned goals and tasks.
  • Proven ability to establish positive working relationships, foster teamwork, safely operate vehicles, equipment and tools and make practical recommendations to improve processes.

  • Ability to safely operate vehicles, equipment, and tools.
  • Able to recognize and apply safety processes and procedures.
  • Possess valid driver’s license and clean driving record (MVR) that meet Company’s Insurance qualifications to operate Company vehicle.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Functions as an individual contributor with no supervisory responsibilities.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Excludes occasional visitation to the field – reference Travel section.

Both Office and Field Related:

  • Job is performed in both the office and in the field work environment.
  • Approximately 10% in the office and 90% in the field.


This position may be subject to:

  • Exposure to computer screens and requires regular use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system.
  • Extreme Cold and Heat: temperatures typically below 32o F or above 100o F for periods of more than one hour. Consideration should be given to the effect of other environmental conditions as wind, rain, snow, and humidity.
  • Noise: there is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
  • Confined Space: work areas large enough for individual to enter, limited means of entry or exit, and not designed for continue occupancy.
  • Hazards: includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals, combustibles, explosives, etc.


HOURS / SHIFTS

  • Regular business hours.
  • Available for on-call rotation and responsibilities on weekends and holidays for urgent issues or emergencies during off hours, as needed.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Minimally lift, push, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently be able to bend, stoop, crouch, etc.
  • Frequent amount of traversing through challenging terrain to perform work, evaluate sites and conditions, inspect equipment/assets, etc.


TRAVEL

Approximate amount of time.

  • Minimal travel may be required to other locations.
  • Frequent travel to Company’s field operations and/or offices. Approximately 90% of time in field.
