 Position Summary:

As a Mechanic II, you will assemble complex build-to-order units and prototype components following detailed build sheets and engineering specifications. This role includes troubleshooting, repairs, and mentoring junior assembly mechanics. The ideal candidate has extensive mechanical experience, strong leadership skills, and expertise with hydraulic and electrical systems.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Obtain and follow work instructions from the Build Book program to prepare for assembly projects
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical equipment and perform necessary repairs
  • Follow engineering drawings, bills of materials, and request parts from the Parts Department as needed
  • Document and communicate assembly process changes, notifying production leads
  • Lay out truck details per engineering prints on a job-by-job basis
  • Perform final assembly of all units, including hoods, electrical components, lighting, and decals to customer specifications
  • Connect and fill hydraulic lines in preparation for required testing
  • Prepare trucks for sub-frame assembly by disassembling, measuring, repositioning, installing parts, and reassembling units following procedures
  • Test assembled parts and products for proper function and quality compliance
  • Train and mentor Mechanic Assembler I team members
  • Maintain tools and workspace in good condition
  • Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Formal training beyond high school (certificate or associate degree in auto repair) preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of mechanical experience required
  • Previous experience with heavy mechanical equipment preferred
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, gas, and diesel systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, hydraulic, and electrical schematics
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor junior mechanics

 Physical Requirements:

  • Work performed primarily on the production floor (95%), moving under, over, and around equipment
  • Occasional outdoor work in all weather conditions (5%)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as needed
