Materials Supervisor – Data Center Manufacturing
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Materials Supervisor to lead our Materials team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting the growing data center industry. This role is responsible for overseeing material flow, inventory accuracy, logistics, storeroom operations, and personnel while ensuring materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who understands the importance of inventory accuracy, material traceability, production support, and on-time delivery. This individual will work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and other departments to ensure materials are properly received, stored, issued, and available when needed to support data center manufacturing requirements.
Essential Functions
- Lead and supervise personnel within the Materials area, including assigning work, monitoring productivity, coaching employees, and resolving day-to-day issues.
- Manage logistics for incoming and outgoing freight, ensuring materials and finished products move efficiently and on schedule.
- Oversee receiving, material handling, inventory storage, picking, staging, and material distribution to support production requirements.
- Develop, implement, and monitor storeroom procedures to maintain inventory accuracy, material traceability, organization, and proper storage.
- Partner with Production and Planning teams to ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer delivery requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, excess inventory, discrepancies, and potential material constraints.
- Monitor departmental expenditures and resource utilization to ensure budgetary and operational targets are achieved.
- Lead 5S and continuous improvement activities within the Materials area.
- Assign and prioritize work based on production schedules, material requirements, staffing levels, and other operational priorities.
- Coordinate Materials activities to ensure tasks are completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and in a cost-effective manner.
- Ensure personnel utilize equipment and materials that are within required calibration, maintenance, shelf-life, and end-of-life requirements, as applicable.
- Ensure employees follow company policies, procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
- Provide direction and coordination to ensure Materials operations support established quality and workmanship standards.
- Provide feedback and coaching regarding quality, productivity, attendance, safety, and performance issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory accuracy, storage methods, and overall department efficiency.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for Materials-related activities and issues.
- Resolve intradepartmental and cross-functional issues while escalating complex problems to management with recommended solutions.
- Foster a work environment that encourages teamwork, accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and employee involvement.
- Ensure personnel receive required training and maintain proficiency in applicable Materials processes and procedures.
- Conduct performance evaluations and administer disciplinary action in accordance with company policies.
- Develop and maintain an appropriate staffing plan to support current and future production requirements.
- Support the company's growth within the data center manufacturing market by maintaining a responsive, organized, and reliable Materials operation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong knowledge of materials management, inventory control, warehousing, and logistics within a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of material flow and the importance of maintaining accurate inventory to support production schedules.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and inventory transactions.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to inventory accuracy and material traceability.
- Excellent planning, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to allocate resources effectively.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Production, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, and other internal and external partners.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills, including coaching, mentoring, team building, and employee development.
- Ability to manage conflict professionally and effectively.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills with the ability to address issues involving multiple variables and changing priorities.
- Ability to identify process improvements and develop practical solutions to complex operational challenges.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth manufacturing environment.

Required Experience & Education
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, materials, or supply chain environment preferred.
- Experience with inventory management and ERP/MRP systems required.
- Previous experience with project management, including planning, budgeting, and resource allocation, preferred.
- Experience supporting high-volume, complex, or data center-related manufacturing operations is a plus.
- Experience working in an environment with strict quality, traceability, inventory accuracy, and customer delivery requirements is highly preferred.
