The Materials Supervisor, is responsible for ensuring the plant maintains detailed and accurate material records, turns the inventory at plan levels, and keeps customer service levels (back orders) at or above plan goals. This includes performing analysis of material requirements, executing Materials strategy, communicating with suppliers and NVR leadership, and overseeing the work of an assigned team of Planners and support personnel.
This role is located in our Fayetteville, NC plant.
Primary Responsibilities:
Balance customer demand with materials spend, maintain optimal inventory balances by factoring in demand, plant lead times, usage, storage, cost, supplier lead-times, minimum order quantities, service levels, and opportunities for obsolescence.
Continually seeks ways to reduce inventory levels while improving customer service levels and maintaining or reducing costs. Identify and develop plans to minimize slow moving inventory.
Develop ideas and strategies to continuously improve operational efficiency, support business performance, and execute the Materials strategy developed by leadership.
Maintain Lumber Stat Page and other critical Materials metrics.
Ensure key objectives are achieved including but not limited to PPV, Inventory Turns, Rail Car Percentage, Inventory Balance, Materials Spend as a Percentage of Revenue.
Support management in driving vendor performance and product quality feedback; working with the corporate Procurement team to build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships and ensure good communication.
Ensures cycle count program is in compliance with operational policies and corporate audit requirements.
Assist in the planning and management of semiannual plant wide physical inventory.
Lead and mentor assigned department personnel. Conduct regular coaching sessions to engage, coach, and provide feedback and professional development. Ensure department is properly staffed and work with management to make hiring and termination decisions.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
2+ years of progressive leadership experience
Inventory control or supply chain experience
Excellent problem-analysis and critical thinking abilities
Experience working within teams and a demonstrated commitment to Customer Service
Outstanding reliability, with strong planning and organizational skills
Ability to drive improvements within the organization and coach/develop others to achieve goals.
Demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple tasks, setting priorities, decision-making, adapting, and meeting deadlines.
Outstanding communication, collaboration, and conflict management
Ability to travel to other NVR plants and locations, as needed.
