Materials Supervisor Job Responsibilities
The Materials Supervisor will coordinate all material control systems, inbound and outbound shipments, material handling activities, and inventory control, primarily from the shop floor.
Coordinate all material handler activities.
Coordinate warehouse layout activities.
Train, coach, and develop the material handling team.
Implement and assist in the development of cycle counting and pull systems for each commodity.
Manage and coordinate receiving and DMR processes.
Manage the input of incoming receipts on a regular and timely basis.
Manage the outbound shipment process.
Coordinate all customs compliance requirements.
Observe Materials and Production operations within the area of responsibility to ensure:
Compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, 5S principles, and Production/Materials standards.
Efficient operation of equipment and take corrective action to eliminate any deviations.
Assist in maintaining and revising visual inventory benchmark standards.
Coordinate daily production build schedules.
Conduct daily floor walks.
Serve as the liaison between Materials and Production.
Coordinate all external warehouse activities.
Run RPS history and cumulative reports, verifying that receipts have been collected in the RPS file.
Manage the supplier cumulative reconciliation process.
Monitor systems to ensure accurate tracking of Truckload Utilization (TUMS).
Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities related to product, process, and quality systems.
Manage and maintain onsite replenishment of trailers (Shelve).
Identify and record problems related to product, process, and quality systems.
Initiate, recommend, and implement solutions through designated channels.
Control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming products until deficiencies or unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected.
Actively participate in Health, Safety, and Environmental investigations and the 8D process to support root cause analysis and problem resolution, as required.
Report accidents, occupational illnesses, and HSE&E emergencies, and inform supervisors of known HSE&E conditions that could adversely affect team members, assets, or the public.
Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and safe work practices within assigned material areas.
Materials Supervisor Qualifications/Requirements
3+ years of Materials Supervision experience within a manufacturing environment.
JIT Automotive Sequencing experience preferred.
Strong analytical and formal problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Proficiency with ERP systems; QAD preferred.
