Job Title
Materials Production Technician II
Responsible for analyzing, controlling, and releasing material in the production of high-quality ceramics or other related material. Assists Materials Engineering to develop and integrate new systems analyses, materials, equipment, products or processes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Follow all Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) procedures as required. Identify opportunities for safety improvements.
- Performs shrinkage/characterization, in-coming material or in-process testing (i.e. moisture, slip density, viscosity, particle size, surface area).
- Communicates technical issues, process and material deviations and equipment challenges in a timely manner to all pertinent personnel (operator, technicians, engineering and/or management team members)
- Acts as a quality control gatekeeper to assure all processes are properly followed and materials are manufactured to defined product requirements.
- Assists in analyzing/troubleshooting systems, processes, product or equipment against the desired results.
- Support engineering to resolve technical issues.
- Utilizes basic math skills to calculate values including but not limited to averages, volumes, weights, densities, and process/material adjustments
- Capable in utilizing manufacturing computers to accurately gather, maintain, and present specified records of technical data in Microsoft Excel or similar formats.
- Uses SPC and technical programs to perform basic process evaluation and troubleshooting
- Continuously identifies and suggests process improvements pertaining to safety, quality, efficiency, and costs.
- Exhibits troubleshooting skills on specific equipment in area of responsibility; cleans and performs preventative maintenance as required.
- Works independently on assigned projects or as a member of a cross-functional team.
- May set up production machines and test equipment and troubleshoot when abnormalities arise
- Supports hands-on training with other AMP Technicians (levels I and II); including utilizing external resources/manufacture as needed.
- Implement and utilize 6S and Gemba practices to maintain functional and clean work areas.
- Reviews procedural documents and processes to ensure mutual alignment.
- Assists and/or performs in any and all areas as assigned.
- May work any and all shifts/days as required.
Job Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma GED or equivalent
Experience:
- Typical 2 years’ experience in AMP processes and/or similar material processes.
Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Communication: Shares information, ideas, feelings, and observations clearly and persuasively, while also taking the time to listen and respond to others.
- Time Management: Prioritizes and plans tasks to achieve goals and uses time effectively to meet set targets
- Detail Oriented: Ability to understand and act on verbal and written instructions. Consistently completes tasks with precision by identifying relevant aspects crucial to achieving high-quality outcomes.
- Technology Use: Ability and willingness to learn and navigate various devices and software programs including touchscreen technology.
- Data Fluency: Intermediate understanding and practical application of Statistical Process Controls.
- Mathematical Reasoning: Intermediate math is used to calculate surfaces, volumes, weights, densities and various other measures.
- Adaptability: Must be able to support change implementation and work effectively with a diverse variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds
Position Specific Physical Requirements:
- The ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to work from ladders when performing tasks.
- Must be able to work in a cold or hot work environment
- May be exposed to a dusty work environment
