Description
Airtech International is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to lead and manage our materials testing laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of mechanical, thermal, and chemical testing of developmental engineering polymer compounds. This critical role involves designing and implementing testing workflows, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supervising a team of lab technicians to execute testing protocols with precision and efficiency. The Materials Testing Lab Manager will collaborate closely with the R&D team to provide valuable data and insights that drive the development of innovative engineered polymers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lab Management & Operations
- Oversee daily operations of the materials testing lab, ensuring safe and efficient execution of all testing activities.
- Develop, implement, and continuously optimize testing workflows for mechanical, thermal, and chemical characterization of engineering polymers.
- Maintain lab equipment and facilities, ensuring calibration, functionality, and compliance with safety standards.
- Develop and enforce lab safety protocols, training procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Team Leadership & Development
- Manage, mentor, and supervise a team of lab technicians, providing guidance and training in testing procedures, equipment usage, and data analysis.
- Coordinate and assign daily testing tasks, ensuring accurate and timely execution of testing protocols.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative lab environment, promoting professional development and growth among the lab team.
Testing & Data Analysis
- Conduct and oversee testing of polymer compounds, including mechanical, thermal, and chemical analyses (e.g., tensile strength, thermal conductivity, chemical resistance).
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy, documenting results in detailed reports.
- Analyze and interpret testing data to provide actionable insights for R&D, product development, and process improvements.
Compliance & Quality Control
- Ensure all lab activities comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.
- Maintain records of all testing procedures, results, and certifications for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that all products meet stringent material specifications and performance criteria.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a materials testing environment.
- Hands-on experience with testing equipment such as thermal analyzers, tensile testers, spectroscopy tools, and chromatography systems.
- Knowledge of polymer chemistry and engineering, with a focus on mechanical, thermal, and chemical testing methodologies.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff.
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a keen eye for detail and precision.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar).
