Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Material Coordinator / Receiving & Logistics Specialist
to support material flow, receiving operations, inventory accuracy, and shipping logistics within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring materials and equipment are received, inspected, staged, and delivered efficiently to support production operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics, material handling, receiving, or supply chain operations, along with strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving & Inventory Management
- Validate incoming shipments to ensure supplier documentation matches physical materials received and company purchase orders.
- Verify quantities against packing slips, purchase orders, and shipping documentation.
- Resolve receiving discrepancies in partnership with the Purchasing team.
- Coordinate quality inspections with engineering and production teams for incoming materials.
- Maintain accurate receiving, purchasing, and accounting documentation.
Shipping & Logistics Coordination
- Schedule inbound and outbound shipments, including LTL freight and small parcel carriers such as FedEx and UPS.
- Ensure all shipments comply with customer packaging, routing, and shipping requirements.
- Communicate shipment status, tracking information, exceptions, and delivery updates to internal stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on material flow and logistics processes.
Material Handling & Production Support
- Support line-side stocking programs by organizing and delivering materials throughout the facility.
- Stage materials and bulk inventory at designated production locations.
- Perform material check-in procedures to confirm deliveries to production teams.
- Assist in organizing material storage areas and improving inventory accessibility.
- Safely load and unload machinery, equipment, and materials from various trucks and trailers.
Additional Responsibilities
- Process invoice discrepancies through the company ERP system.
- Initiate and track return material processes, including root cause documentation.
- Manage company fleet vehicle sign-out processes.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a business, manufacturing, warehouse, or logistics environment.
- Forklift (Hi-Lo) experience.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred:
- Experience in logistics, material management, inventory control, or supply chain operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably Epicor.
- Previous manufacturing or industrial experience.
