Material Planner

Job Description

The Material Planner is responsible for scheduling manufacturing orders and coordinating the flow of materials and production activities. This position works closely with Logistics, Production, Sales/Commercial, Inventory, and Plant Management to ensure production schedules and material requirements are met. The Material Planner will also utilize the company’s ERP system to maintain data integrity and support overall production needs.

Job Duties

  • Assist the Supply Chain Manager with planning production workflows and schedules across manufacturing departments.
  • Monitor production status to ensure orders are completed and delivered on time.
  • Review finished goods and raw material inventory levels to make scheduling adjustments and minimize slow-moving inventory.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to coordinate production requirements and priorities.
  • Assign products to customers based on chemistry-level data and individual customer specifications.
  • Issue job cards for new crushing and washing jobs based on inventory levels, chemistry requirements, and other quality metrics.
  • Monitor material availability and coordinate with internal departments to prevent production delays.
  • Participate in regular cycle counts and the annual physical inventory process.
  • Maintain accurate production and inventory information within the ERP system.
  • Provide support to production, inventory, logistics, and management teams as needed.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, material planning, production planning, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Dynamics 365, Google Docs, and Google Sheets.
  • Strong prioritization, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong multitasking and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide clear direction and collaborate effectively with multiple departments.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None.

Work Environment

This position operates primarily in an office within a manufacturing facility. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, including computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

The employee will also spend considerable time in the manufacturing facility and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, vibration, and other typical manufacturing conditions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee will frequently be required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours are Monday through Friday during normal business hours, with schedules subject to change based on business needs.
