Description

The Material Handler Lead provides direction and oversees the daily activities of the shipping, receiving, or warehouse areas. It is the Lead’s responsibility to ensure all processes and work instructions are followed and provides leadership in doing so. The Material Handler Lead coaches, mentors, and provides training for new employees. Provides input for employee performance reviews / disciplinary issues. Maintain inventory accuracy by participating in daily cycle counts and physical inventories when required. Has excellent organizational and time management skills, which helps them be efficient with their work. Ensures that all paperwork is accurate, complete and ERP transactions are done on a timely basis.

A Material Handler Lead must be able to lead and direct all Material Handlers on their shift to their work task. Whenever possible, a Lead Material Handler shall communicate the status of the assigned work to the Supervisor / Manager. The Material Handler Lead Handler shall also assist the Supervisor with assignment and coordination of on-the-job training. In the supervisor’s absence, the Lead Material Handler III has the authority to takes the Leadership role of supervisor with the ability to follow directions provided by the department manager.

  1. Provide direction to the staff, maintain work schedules, troubleshoot problems, assist the supervisor with employee issues, and provide input for performance counseling and reviews. Delegate and prioritize responsibilities to employees to ensure that daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met.
  2. Establish and maintain interdepartmental relationships with Quality, Purchasing, Finance, Maintenance, Production, and Engineering to facilitate communication of information daily.
  3. Notify the Quality Supervisor, Quality Engineer, Supplier Quality Engineer, and the Production Supervisor if non-conforming equipment, raw materials, or sub-assemblies are detected. Assign/identify the suspected non-conforming part to prevent further use.
  4. Perform all facets of Material functions (issue, transfer, and move materials)
  5. Create and enter data into Excel spreadsheets for reporting purposes.
  6. Performs inventory Cycle Counts, create Pareto Charts for Evaluations.
  7. Research on and resolve Daily Shortage Root Cause, plan production activities and correct inventory inaccuracies.
  8. Manage material Phase In/Phase Out and reduce inventory levels, reduce obsolete material.
  9. Document raw material movement, handle raw material movement from warehouse to production locations. Lead material moves to Work in Process locations on data from transfer reports. Check and act on messages from computerized inventory system.
  10. Move, load, store and retrieve materials, supplies and stock.
  11. Support other manufacturing activities as required.
  12. Keep records and paperwork organized, filed correctly, and current.
  13. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and ensure the proper care of machinery and equipment.
  14. Leads and directs the Material Handlers work group.

Qualifications


MUST BE A US PERSON ELIGIBLE TO WORK FOR ANY EMPLOYER IN THE UNITED STATES
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 5-yrs recent shipping, receiving, or inventory control experience in a manufacturing environment and 2-yrs experience as a Lead Material Handler II.
• Epicor ERP/MRP knowledge is desirable
• Strong computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel.
• Excel Pivot Table, V-Lookup knowledge desirable
• Organizational and time management skills
• Ability to cross-train in other areas is required.
• Able to pass forklift certification.
• Ability to lift 50-60 lbs
• Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
• Ability to work independently without guidance.
• ISO 9001:2000 and AS9100 Standards knowledge desirable
• APICS knowledge desirable
• ANSI knowledge desirable
