Forklift Driver Description

This individual is responsible for pulling orders, loading trucks, and checking for quality and accuracy while ensuring that special instructions are followed.

Schedule is 5:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, some Saturdays required.

Forklift Driver Duties and Responsibilities

• Pull orders as on pick ticket, ensuring special instructions are being followed
• Properly stage orders in staging area. Depending on the size of the order, it may be loaded directly onto a trailer
• Check all work for quality and accuracy
• Load trucks as needed ensuring accuracy; trucks need to be properly loaded to avoid load shifting
• Operate forklift in a safe and efficient manner that will ensure quality workmanship and preservation of equipment, without unusual wear or damage to equipment
• When performing duties at the “pick up counter”, ensure the orders are being loaded to the correct carrier/customer and the bill of lading is signed
• When performing UPS shipments, ensure paperwork and shipments are processed correctly
• Serve as backup to pallet associate
• Perform preventative maintenance on forklift and communicate any issues to supervisor or maintenance
• Report safety, quality, and equipment issues to supervisor
• Ensure good housekeeping within the warehouse
• Maintain positive and productive communications with all relationships
• Must follow all company policies and procedures
• Must be trained on Box-Board Products, Inc. Employee Practices for AIB Compliance (a.k.a. Good Manufacturing Practices or G.M.P.’s); must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.’s
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Forklift Driver Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• CDL is required for this position
• Warehouse experience is preferred
• Must be able to operate a forklift; at least 2 years experience is preferred
• Must complete BBP forklift certification course and maintain forklift license
• Must be able to read and understand English instructions; written and verbal
• Must be able to communicate with supervisor and coworkers
• Ability to frequently travel up and down a flight of stairs
• Demonstrated ability to cooperate with others and work as an effective team member
