Job Overview:

JOB SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE 

The Material Handler 1 is responsible for supporting all warehouse, inventory, and material movement activities that ensure accurate, efficient flow of materials throughout the facility. This role includes receiving and verifying incoming product, performing ERP transactions, organizing and maintaining warehouse inventory, kitting materials based on production priorities, and assisting with general production needs. The Material Handler 1 maintains accurate records, follows established processes, and ensures a clean, safe, and well-organized work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Including but not limited to:

  • Safely move materials throughout the dock, warehouse, and production floor.
  • Receive, unpack, and verify incoming materials; complete all receipt transactions in the ERP system on the day product arrives.
  • Scan and document all receivers in a timely manner to maintain accurate traceability.
  • Store, locate, and manage inventory within ERP system; ensure proper part identification and labeling.
  • Kit materials for production work orders and machine builds according to priorities set by Production Control.
  • Perform cycle counts, stock counts, and promptly report or resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain inventory of parts, tools, supplies, and equipment as required.
  • Process returns for defective material back to suppliers.
  • Handle, store, and dispose of hazardous and recyclable materials in accordance with DOT, state, and federal regulations.
  • Keep warehouse, dock, and storage areas clean, organized, and free of hazards; maintain good housekeeping standards.
  • Assist production and other departments as needed, including support on the receiving side.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to processes, quality, and overall efficiency.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficiency in warehouse operations, receiving, and inventory handling.
  • Experience performing accurate transactions in inventory or warehouse management systems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong accuracy in counting, documentation, and recordkeeping.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of proper packaging methods.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a team-focused environment
  • Time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks based on production needs.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-3 years of experience in warehouse, receiving, or material handling roles.
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Basic math and computer skills required.
  • Must be willing to become certified in hazardous material handling per DOT requirements (training provided).

 

PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. independently and heavier loads with assistance.
  • Ability to use hand trucks, conveyors, and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to wear required PPE including safety shoes, glasses, hearing protection, ESD coats, and cleanroom gear when applicable.
  • This position is conducted primarily in a warehouse and production environment and involves frequent movement, including walking, standing, lifting, and handling materials. Work may require operating material-handling equipment and performing tasks in areas with varying temperatures, noise levels, and typical industrial conditions. WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

  • No special clearances required.

 

HOURS: 

  • Full Time, 1st Shift
  • Standard 8-hour shift; overtime and flexible start times may be required.
