Job Title: Prototype Material Handler
Job Summary:
The Prototype Material Handler is responsible for receiving, organizing, tracking, and delivering materials used in prototype development and testing. This role supports engineers and prototype technicians by ensuring parts, tools, and materials are available, properly documented, and handled according to company procedures. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and log prototype parts, components, and materials into inventory systems.
- Store materials in designated areas while maintaining proper labeling and organization.
- Pick, stage, and deliver materials to engineers, technicians, and prototype build teams.
- Track prototype parts, revisions, and material usage to support engineering builds.
- Assist with kitting materials for prototype assemblies and test programs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts.
- Coordinate with purchasing, engineering, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of parts.
- Handle sensitive or unique prototype components with care to avoid damage.
- Maintain a clean and organized prototype storage and work area.
- Follow safety procedures and company policies related to material handling and storage.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with inventory systems or spreadsheets.
- Ability to read part numbers, labels, and engineering documentation.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with PLEX or inventory management systems.
- Forklift or material handling equipment certification.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of experience in material handling, warehouse operations, or manufacturing support.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
- Must be able to lift up to 40-50 pounds at times.
