Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Expeditor is responsible for an efficient workflow of materials in the machine shop. They will work closely with purchasing, receiving and production control to ensure on time delivery goals are met. They will also be responsible for mitigating risk to workflow and escalating issues to make sure problems are proactively solved.

Key ResultsAreas:

1. Coordinate workflow of materials in and out of the entire production processes to maximize efficiency in the shop.

a. Physically move materials within the shop and deliver them as needed using forklifts, hand trucks and other vehicles.

b. Ensure materials are staged at location prior to start of production for reduction in setup time.

c. Cut a variety of materials using a bandsaw and maintain the equipment by changing blades, coolant, and oil.

2. Track open orders through the production process to mitigate risks to on time delivery and proactively solve potential issues in production flow.

a. Follow up on urgent priorities and risks.

b. Working cross-functionally to expedite orders.

3. Manage work order packets waiting on material and any other information.

a. Communicate with purchasing on material orders to ensure the promised delivery date to the customer is met.

b. Collaborate with shipping and receiving to account for required material, check inventory, investigate and resolve material issues.

c. Prioritize work order packets based on due dates.

4. Assist Production and Inventory Controller (PIC) with materials resource planning process.

a. Proactively communicate with PIC if orders are going to be delayed.

b. Work collaboratively with PIC, ensure date alignment of orders to facilitate on time delivery and level loading based on the stated capacity for each piece of equipment.

c. Update Operations Department in stand-up meetings on areas of potential risk and high priorities.

d. Accurately document changes in orders and status.

Requirements

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.

Education and Training

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Overheard crane experience.

· Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.

Experience:

  • Two years of production planning or manufacturing experience in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems.

Other:

· Must be willing to work overtime as required

· Travel on limited occasions.

Desired Job Qualification:

· A Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Project Management, Logistics or equivalent.

Compensation and Benefits:

The hourly range for this role is $23.00 - $28.00. This range represents the anticipated minimum and maximum base + bonus for this position based upon a good faith and reasonable estimate. The final compensation for this position will be set based on the applicant’s qualifications (education, training and/or experience related to this role), and therefore, may fall outside the range shown, depending on the circumstances.
