Express Employment Professionals is seeking a Material Expeditor for a design fabrication company in Madison Heights, MI. The Material Expeditor will help ensure materials are available, organized, and delivered to the appropriate production areas so projects remain on schedule.
This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment, and able to communicate effectively with both warehouse and production teams.
Monitor material needs for current and upcoming production jobs.
Pull, stage, and deliver materials to the appropriate production areas.
Verify materials against work orders, job tickets, or production schedules.
Track material availability and communicate shortages or delays to supervisors.
Coordinate with purchasing, warehouse, and production personnel to keep jobs moving.
Inspect materials for quantity, type, size, and obvious quality issues.
Maintain organized material storage and staging areas.
Assist with inventory counts and material tracking.
Properly label and identify materials for specific jobs.
Move wood, foam, printed materials, substrates, and other signage-related materials throughout the facility.
Help prioritize material movement based on production deadlines.
Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Follow all company safety procedures and policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Previous experience in material handling, inventory, warehouse, production, or manufacturing preferred.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to read work orders, job tickets, and basic production documentation.
Basic computer skills for inventory and production tracking.
Ability to communicate effectively with production and management teams.
Ability to prioritize multiple jobs and changing production needs.
Basic knowledge of measuring tools such as a tape measure and ruler.
Ability to lift and move 50+ lbs. regularly.
Ability to safely move large sheets of materials.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movements.
Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment-pallet jacks
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while working in the shop.
You should be proficient in:
