Description

Summary

This role ensures efficient, timely, and cost-effective production by balancing short-term scheduling needs with long-term capacity planning. Responsible for both manufacturing and packaging operations to meet customer needs in a timely manner. The MPS uses their strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, production constraints, and resource optimization to meet customer and company goals. This includes working with Supply Chain, Purchasing, Production, Packaging, and Customer Service to optimize production and costs without sacrificing service. The MPS will work with plant staff to optimize inventory. This position will function as part of the plant staff with input on the operation of the facility and will regularly interact with senior management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Tactical Scheduling

  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on customer orders, forecasts, and inventory targets.
  • Coordinate batch production and packaging schedules to ensure timely fulfillment of customer demand.
  • Adjust schedules in real-time to respond to changes in demand, raw material availability, or equipment downtime. Maintain product available dates on all customer orders.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, quality, logistics, procurement, and customer service teams to ensure schedule adherence and resolve conflicts.

Strategic Planning

  • Conduct long-term capacity planning to align labor, equipment, and material resources with forecasted demand.
  • Identify and mitigate bottlenecks in production and packaging processes.
  • Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) by providing visibility into production capabilities and constraints.
  • Recommend improvements to scheduling processes, tools, and systems to enhance efficiency and responsiveness.

Data & Systems Management

  • Maintain accurate scheduling data in ERP/MRP systems.
  • Analyze production performance metrics (e.g., schedule adherence, throughput, changeover time) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Generate reports and dashboards for leadership to support decision-making.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical, data management, and communication skills desired
  • Results oriented and able to influence outcomes in a cross-functional team environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production scheduling tools and strategies
  • Experience developing and/or improving forecasting and planning tools
  • APICS certification a plus
  • Strong computer skills to include demonstrated knowledge of MS office (word and excel)

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Math, Statistics, or related field
  • 5-7 years’ experience in Supply chain operations, or MRP (either in a technical role or process role) desired
