General Description

Under the direction of the Machining Supervisor, the Master Machinist will set up and operate CNC lathe & mill machines. They will need to be able to read and write M and G code. They will need to be able to set up and run parts complete, to print. Machinist will also be responsible for verifying parts are machined per print before handing off to inspection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Set up/ design fixturing for machine operations needed to complete part.

  • Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments, templates, and fixtures.

  • Perform all required maintenance for machines.

  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.

  • Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools.

  • Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences.

  • Calculate machine speed and feed ratios, and the size and position of cuts.

Qualifications

  • Able to layout features on material using drawings.

  • Able to be self-motivated and stay organized.

  • Attention to detail and proficient computer skills.

  • Able to Program using Mastercam, long hand, or others.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of programing using Mastercam or long hand required.
  • 4+ years set up and operation of CNC Lathes and Mills required.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment (and foundry experience is a plus)
