Location: Portland, OR (Travel to shipyards, ports, marine facilities, and project sites as required)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Marine Project Manager to lead and coordinate vessel repair, shipyard, marine construction, fabrication, maintenance, and industrial waterfront projects. This individual will oversee projects from initial planning through completion, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in marine operations, ship repair, vessel construction, heavy industrial projects, or waterfront infrastructure and possesses excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Essential Responsibilities

• Manage multiple marine and shipyard projects simultaneously.
• Develop project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
• Coordinate labor, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives.
• Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
• Track project progress and ensure milestone completion.
• Monitor labor productivity, material usage, and project costs.
• Manage project forecasting, budgeting, and change orders.
• Conduct site visits, vessel inspections, and progress meetings.
• Ensure compliance with all maritime, OSHA, environmental, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate procurement of equipment, materials, and specialized marine services.
• Identify and proactively resolve project risks and operational challenges.
• Prepare project reports and communicate status updates to management and stakeholders.
• Support estimating, bidding, and business development efforts when needed.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of project management experience in marine, shipyard, vessel repair, industrial construction, or related industries.
• Strong understanding of marine operations, vessel systems, fabrication, and repair processes.
• Proven experience managing budgets, schedules, and project teams.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
• Knowledge of contract administration and project controls.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and project management software.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Maritime Management, or related field.
• PMP certification or equivalent project management credentials.
• Experience working in shipyards, dry docks, marine terminals, or waterfront construction environments.
• Familiarity with Coast Guard, ABS, NAVSEA, or other maritime industry standards.
• Experience coordinating union and non-union labor forces.
• Knowledge of welding, fabrication, machining, piping, electrical, and mechanical marine systems.
