Job Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Lead Marine Carpenter to join our growing team. In this role, you will lead marine construction and repair projects on the water. You will do everything from driving pilings and building heavy docks to installing high-end boat lifts and handling finish carpentry. This is a role for a skilled, independent tradesman who takes pride in top-quality work and knows how to operate commercial boats and heavy equipment safely.
What You Will Do Every Day
Heavy Framing & Construction: Install pilings, bulkheads, structural framing, piers, decking, and roof trusses.
Pile Driving: Operate a vibro unit on a tractor/trackhoe to safely and accurately drive pylons into place (using water jets when needed to push through mud layers).
On-the-Water Operations: Safely operate a 20x40 commercial barge and police-style support boats to move crew, tools, and materials to and from job sites.
Boat Lift Installations: Assemble and install top-of-the-line hydraulic boat lifts.
Light Electrical Work: Disconnect/reconnect existing 120V single-phase lift controls, set up solar charging units, and wire up battery tenders.
Equipment Care: Check oil, fluids, and fuel on boats and tractors daily. Look ahead at project plans to make sure the crew never runs out of materials.
What We Need From You
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in marine construction or heavy carpentry.
License: Must have a valid State of Alabama Boater's License (or be willing to get it immediately upon hire).
Equipment Skills: Proven ability to safely run tractors/trackhoes and operate commercial-sized vessels.
Mindset: A strong focus on final product quality control, zero cutting corners, and excellent communication with leadership.
