This is a hands-on manufacturing role responsible for developing, programming, launching, troubleshooting, and improving CNC machining processes. The Manufacturing / Programming Engineer will work closely with production, quality, and management to develop efficient and repeatable processes for both new and existing production work.
We are looking for someone who combines strong CNC programming and machining knowledge with the ability to solve problems, improve processes, and take ownership of projects from concept through successful production.
What We’re Looking For
The right person for this role will be:
- A problem solver who enjoys figuring out how to manufacture parts efficiently, consistently, and correctly
- Someone who takes ownership and initiative rather than waiting to be told what needs to happen next
- A team player who works well with machinists, quality, production, sales, and management
- Hands-on and comfortable working directly with machines, tooling, programs, and production personnel
- Able to balance quality, cycle time, tooling, manufacturability, and cost when developing processes
- Detail-oriented and committed to following established systems and quality requirements
- Comfortable working in a growing manufacturing environment where priorities and challenges can change
- Open to learning and incorporating automation, AI-assisted tools, and new technologies to improve programming, quoting, process development, and manufacturing efficiency
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, program, and launch new CNC manufacturing processes
- Develop machining strategies, tooling requirements, setups, and CNC programs for new production work
- Set up and program CNC lathes, Swiss turning machines, and/or CNC mills
- Troubleshoot existing machining processes and identify root causes of production issues
- Improve existing processes to increase efficiency, quality, consistency, tool life, and throughput
- Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions and process documentation
- Assist in training operators and setup personnel on new and revised processes
- Review drawings, specifications, tolerances, materials, and customer requirements to determine manufacturing methods
- Support quoting of potential new work by evaluating manufacturability, cycle times, tooling, processes, and production requirements
- Assist with tooling selection and optimization
- Work with Quality and Production to resolve manufacturing and quality issues
- Identify opportunities for automation and continuous process improvement
- Support successful transition of new parts from quoting and process development into repeatable production
Qualifications & Experience

- 2D and 3D CAD experience; VISI and/or SolidWorks experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, feeds and speeds, workholding, and process development
- Knowledge of raw materials, tooling, production processes, quality control, manufacturing costs, and methods for efficiently producing precision components
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing equipment and how individual operations work together within the overall production process
- Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and processes, including APQP, PPAP, ISO, CAR, and SPC
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established processes and systems
- Automation and robotic manufacturing experience is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
- Practical understanding of engineering principles and their application in a production manufacturing environment
