ABEC is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Team Lead who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and leads by example. This is a true working leadership role, with approximately 50% of your time spent assembling and fabricating complex equipment alongside your team, and 50% focused on leading employees, coordinating work, and driving safety, quality, and productivity performance.

What You'll Do

As a Manufacturing Team Lead, you'll balance hands-on manufacturing responsibilities with team leadership duties:

Hands-On Manufacturing

• Assemble, fabricate, and test custom equipment according to engineering drawings and specifications.
• Utilize hand tools, fabrication equipment, and measuring devices to complete production activities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
• Assist with troubleshooting assembly and manufacturing challenges to keep projects on track.
• Participate in equipment installations at customer sites when required.
• Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.

Team Leadership

• Coordinate daily priorities with the Manufacturing Supervisor and communicate shift progress and results.
• Plan workload, assign tasks, and ensure resources are effectively utilized.
• Monitor safety, quality, and productivity throughout the shift.
• Provide coaching, technical guidance, and real-time support to team members.
• Address employee performance and behavioral concerns when necessary.
• Support hiring, onboarding, training, and employee development initiatives.
• Participate in performance reviews and workforce planning activities.
• Collaborate with Engineers, Project Managers, Designers, and other Team Leaders to resolve issues and advance projects.
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement initiatives that improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of direct leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, or industrial manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
• Experience using hand tools, fabrication equipment, and measuring devices.
• Production planning and scheduling experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer proficiency and ability to utilize shop floor data systems.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in an active manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Background in custom manufacturing, process equipment, capital equipment, or industrial machinery.
• Experience supporting customer installations or field service projects.

Shifts available: 

1st Shift:  6:00am – 2:30pm M-F

OR  2nd Shift:  2:00pm – 10:30pm M-F (that includes 10% shift differential)
