Position Overview

Shaw Industries is searching for a supervisor to oversee departmental associates and complies with all safety, quality, production, waste, absenteeism, turnover, and housekeeping standards necessary to meet the departmental requirements on 3rd shift. This associate interacts directly with other supervisors and Superintendent in the accomplishment of support, scheduling, and through-put improvement objectives in the manufacturing process. Responsible for all necessary forecasting, planning, assigning, reporting, and follow-up for all departmental daily functions. Serves in the position of incident commander on the Plant Emergency Organization Response Team.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to the Superintendent.
  • Directs and monitors all activity of the Prematch and Development personnel to ensure proper production and quality levels are attained
  • Responsible for implementing procedures located in AODOCs.
  • Conducts shift quality and production meetings.
  • Implements Plant 86’s Safety, Quality, & Environmental Policy.
  • As requested, serves on subcommittees of the Quality Improvement Team (QIT).
  • Responsible for the actions and safety of all Production personnel.
  • Initiates and promotes quality and safety to all Production personnel.
  • Holds weekly and monthly safety meetings.
  • Responsible for making sure shift Workforce timecards are accurate each week.
  • Issues corrective discipline, when necessary, to insure conformance of all individuals to company policies.
  • Insures excellent housekeeping in all areas of responsibility.
  • Tours and inspects all areas of the departments during each shift.
  • Attends all company seminars relevant to the job duties of the Manufacturing Supervisor.
  • Promotes and participates in all department and plant related activities such as special events, celebrations, and other activities to boost morale of Production personnel.
  • Takes Corrective action on shift audit findings.
  • Provides shift schedules to insure proper allocation of people, machinery, and product flow.
  • Complies with procedures found in Shaw Management System (SMS).
  • Responsible for on-the-job training for all newly hired, transferred, or promoted associates assigned to Production.
  • Monitors production processes and makes revisions to training materials, both safety and procedural, as necessary.
  • Ensures trainee files are completed in a timely manner. When training is complete the Manufacturing Supervisor should forward files to the Training Department.
  • Responsible for health and safety of all associates.
  • May perform other duties as required or assigned by Color Plant Superintendent, Plant Manager, or designee.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma with commensurate level of related experience.
  • Company job experience with thorough knowledge of process. Fill-in supervisor with excellent job evaluations may be given preference.
  • Related jobs as supervisor or manager with several years of equivalent experience. (i.e., five (5) to six (6) years related experience.
  • Ability to make decisions based on inputs provided by supervisors, subordinates, and peers to be consistent with departmental and company goals.

  • Willingness to work rotating shifts and weekends as required.
