Position Summary

We are looking for a Manufacturing Strategy Engineer with strong analytical skills to drive continuous improvement across our high-volume semiconductor wafer fabrication operations. This Engineer will act as a bridge between demand‑driving product owners, the Capacity Planning team, and shift‑level execution. You will translate complex demand signals into dynamic run plans, uncover and resolve tool‑capacity and cycle‑time bottlenecks, and drive continuous‑improvement initiatives that increase equipment utilization and reduce throughput variance. The engineer will schedule tool work, coordinate maintenance‑day activities, manage spec activations, act as the shift’s voice, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams on automation and improvement initiatives.

Role and Responsibilities

Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:

Operational Strategy & Performance Optimization:

  • Performance Analysis: Analyze end-to-end performance of wafer fab lines to identify inefficiencies, tool constraints, and cycle time reduction opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to enhance throughput, reduce WIP variability, and improve Overall Equipment Efficiency.
  • Bottleneck Management: Proactively monitor and manage bottleneck groups by reviewing priorities, capacity, path limitations to maximize the performance.
  • Execution Planning: Translate production and business priorities into actionable daily and shift-level operational strategies.

Dynamic Planning & Scheduling:

  • Fab Run Plans: Develop and optimize run plans aligned with customer demand, capacity, and tool availability.
  • Real-time Adjustment: Dynamically adjust plans based on equipment downtime, engineering holds, priority lots, and shifting requirements.
  • Activity Coordination: Plan scheduled tool downtime, preventive maintenance (PM), and engineering activities to ensure minimal disruption to fab output.
  • Change Management: Organize and track process changes, qualifications, and spec activations for smooth production integration.

Communication & Cross-Functional Leadership:

  • Shift Alignment: Establish structured cross-shift communication to ensure seamless handoffs, accurate reporting, and consistent issue escalation between day and night shifts.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with Production Systems, Manufacturing Systems Integration, CAPA, and Equipment/Process Engineering teams to align execution.
  • Operational Continuity: Act as the central coordination point to bridge communication gaps and prevent productivity loss during shift transitions.

Smart Manufacturing & Data Analytics:

  • Automation & Industry 4.0: Lead long-term automation initiatives, including improving scheduling logic, internal systems, and reducing manual intervention.
  • Reporting & KPIs: Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor key metrics such as throughput, cycle time, WIP, and tool utilization.
  • Strategic Insights: Perform root cause analysis on chronic operational issues and provide data-driven recommendations to fab leadership for capacity planning and strategic decision-making.

Skills and Qualifications

Here's what you'll need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical fields.
  • Experience: 3–5+ years in semiconductor fabs, automated manufacturing, or factory operation roles.
  • Skills: Strong proficiency in SQL, Data analysis, Microsoft Office, and Project management.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Production control, Capacity planning.

The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $120,000.
