The Manufacturing Quality Manager oversees production quality control, ensures products meet regulatory and industry standards, and drives continuous improvement. Core duties involve developing quality management systems (QMS), analyzing production data, and leading a team of quality engineers, technicians, and inspectors to eliminate defects and resolve supply chain issues. The work performed in this position will be onsite at headquarters in Tualatin, Oregon and reports to the Director of Quality Assurance.
Manufacturing Quality Manager Job Duties:
- Hire, train, develop, manage, and mentor quality inspectors, technicians, and engineers
- Foster strong interdepartmental collaboration to enhance responsive customer service, timely issue resolution, streamline processes, and support shared business goals
- Design and implement and maintain the manufacturing quality processes that support the company QMS
- Apply statistical process control (SPC) or other appropriate methodologies to analyze data, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency
- Work with Design Engineering and Supplier Quality to set quality standards for raw materials and collaborate with both teams to resolve supplier defects
- Work with Design Engineering and the manufacturing team to set quality standards for production and collaborate with both teams to resolve manufacturing defects
- Document manufacturing processes for quality functions in support of product revisions and new product development initiatives
- Direct staff in the use of quality tools and methods, including but not limited to problem solving (RCCA, RMA, FMEA, CAR, SCAR, SPC, DOE, Control charts, Fishbone diagram, change control, disposition of non-conforming materials, etc.)
- Conduct regular internal audits and ensure adherence to quality, health, safety, and legal standards
- Understand customer quality needs and expectations and drive improvements in the quality and regulatory standards
- Develop, implement, and track key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Identify training needs and conduct training interventions to ensure quality expectations are met for both quality and manufacturing
- Travel internationally or within the United States as needed
- Performs other projects as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or quality management
- Minimum 8 years of experience in quality
- 5+ years strong supervisory and leadership skills
- Strategic thinking, strong work ethics and ability to influence others
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Planning and project management skills
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading employees with a wide range of skills and experience levels
- Experience in Product Lifecycle Management process
- Experience in regulatory compliance, audits and documentation management
- Proficient with various quality tools and methodologies including SPC, FMEA, 8D, DOE and root cause analysis
- Proficient in MS Office products and related engineering applications
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 20%
