Position Overview
A stable manufacturing company is seeking an experienced**
Production Supervisor** to lead high-volume metal stamping operations. This role combines hands-on technical oversight, team leadership, process improvement, and coordination with Tooling, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering.
The ideal candidate has strong stamping experience, working knowledge of tool-and-die principles, and a proven ability to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and develop production teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily stamping production activities while meeting safety, quality, delivery, and productivity goals.
- Supervise, coach, and develop production employees.
- Troubleshoot stamping, tooling, die, and process issues.
- Improve die-change efficiency using SMED principles.
- Monitor production metrics and lead corrective actions.
- Support preventive maintenance programs for stamping equipment and tooling.
- Coordinate with Tooling, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and Quality teams.
- Lead continuous improvement and waste-reduction initiatives.
- Manage projects from planning through implementation.
- Address employee relations matters and work with union representatives when needed.
- Establish department goals and communicate expectations across the team.
- Support occasional Friday overtime or schedule flexibility based on production needs.
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of experience in metal stamping or a related manufacturing environment.
- Previous production supervision, group leadership, or team-lead experience.
- Strong understanding of stamping equipment and tool-and-die fundamentals.
- Experience implementing process improvements in a high-volume manufacturing operation.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and SMED.
- Strong coaching, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience supervising employees in a union environment.
- Preventive maintenance and equipment-reliability experience.
- Experience supporting medium- or high-volume production operations.
- Project-management experience.
