Summary
Lead a shift team of up to 20 employees across multiple shop‐floor departments, directing daily workflow so every order ships on time, every time. You’ll balance people, machines, and materials—driving a forklift, filling in on equipment, and handling paperwork as needed—while upholding safety, quality, and housekeeping standards. The role is hands‐on: expect to lift up to 50 lbs and work overtime when production peaks.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a safe, uncluttered workplace: keep the plant clean, organized, and inspection‐ready.
- Run the shift: assign work, adjust labor to meet changing priorities, and step in on machines when necessary.
- Maintain flow: move parts between departments, label shipments accurately, and issue materials first‐in/first‐out.
- Hit the schedule: track work‐in‐process and monitor work orders in the ERP system to ensure on‐time delivery.
- Communicate in real time: relay material or manpower needs to Purchasing and Scheduling as priorities shift.
- Drive quality: perform final or secondary inspections, stage first‐article reports, and escalate issues to the Production Manager.
- Foster a customer‐first culture: coach the team to see every task through the lens of customer impact.
