Job Overview:

Purpose

 

Prepares and analyzes daily and weekly production work orders based on production schedules to ensure finished product inventory meets customer demands.  

Essential Job Functions

 

  • Create, release, maintain, review and expedite work orders.
  • Check and allocate stock availability and determine best course of action for releasing work orders.
  • Coordinate work orders with Production Scheduler and Warehouse to ensure that orders are started on time and processed efficiently through the plant in order to meet customer need demands.
  • Ensure piece part components meet forecasted requirements. 
  • Work with Purchasing to highlight components that create risks to the forecast and require expedites.
  • Act as a point of contact for Operations to assist in the resolution of order-promising situations, customer delivery difficulties and demand versus supply conflicts, including manufacturing Andon system
  • Develop/maintain positive working relationships with internal customers to ensure that requirements to support our operations are met.
  • Work with inventory personnel to help maintain accurate inventories.
  • Work with Aftermarket Spare Parts department to ensure proper flow to meet customer demand, 
  • Facilitate parts shortage review meetings as necessary.
  • Prepare SIOP meetings
  • Assist in educating new team members in SAP and production planning processes used at SAI.
  • Coordinate external service priorities with Purchasing.
  • Maintain Planning responsibilities with the ECO (engineering change order) process. 
  • Review MRP messages and make appropriate updates.
  • Analyze and update SAP material master settings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

Physical Demands:

  • Perform stationary work 90% of the time using a computer and applicable office equipment
  • Move about inside the office and production areas of the building 10% of the time to communicate with colleagues

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field required
  • APICS Certification, preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience at a functional level, with min. 3 years as a subject matter expert
  • Additional scheduling experience a plus

Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Excellent working knowledge and experience using SAP required
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with fabricated and welded parts for heavy equipment
  • Excellent customer service, project management, problem solving and trouble shooting skills 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 
  • PC skills (Outlook, Word, Power Point), extended Excel knowledge required
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks and coordinate complex activities
