Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering Manager
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Manufacturing & Industrial Engineering Manager is responsible for analyzing production processes to increase efficiency and reduce waste to enhance overall productivity at Vac-con. The candidate working closely with cross-functional teams will suggest and provide analysis to support advanced (Best in Class) manufacturing methods that provide higher quality and lower costs opportunities. Implement and manage “change management” processes. Plan, lead and support as appropriate Design for Manufacturing and Assembly projects toward the goal of manufacturing excellence. Support NPD projects in all phases. Lead multiple projects, communicate requirements and results to Leadership. Support existing manufacturing processes through continues improvement activities using lean manufacturing principles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for evaluating and maintaining the safety of all manufacturing processes
- Participate in safety projects and provide process and tooling changes as needed to ensure all equipment meets regulatory and safety specifications while also considering designs for ergonomically correct workstations reducing workers compensation and insurance costs.
- Ensure that all process improvements meet quality standards while also contributing to an improvement in product quality for the customer.
- Responsible of designing and producing Jigs and fixturing to achieve critical to quality dimensions
- Ensure all goals and permanent corrective actions are put in place for all process related Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost KPI’s.
- Hands on Manager with the ability to multi-task with teams
- Proven track record of leading cross functional teams to consistently deliver high-quality products
- Demonstrated leadership skills with clear examples of motivating, coaching, influencing, and developing team members at all levels
- Develop and implement plans to improve manufacturing processes to reduce labor hours and costs of manufacturing through Lean principals.
- Experienced in problem solving techniques such as Six Sigma, A3’s, 5 Why’s, 8D’s and Fishbone diagrams, as well as creating documents such as FEMA’s, PFMEAs, control plans and flow charts
- Justify, specify, negotiate and procure equipment for production needs to meet cost reduction goals as set.
- Develop and implement plans to expand robotic and automated areas with proper training for team members
- Develop/support the sites long-term vision for “next generation” one piece flow manufacturing plant.
- Write appropriation requests and perform financial justification for capital equipment purchases
- Oversee Mfg. processes, time studies, performance reporting and data analysis with recommendations.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans for all large-scale projects
- Support Tooling design and build for all New Product Launches through DFM methodologies
- Coordinate with Design Engineering staff to improve streamline transition from design to manufacturing.
- Develop routings for all parts made, supported on ERP/MRP system (Visual).
- Ability to troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis
- Maintain ERP, routings and work instructions
- Support all maintenance of the Manufacturing Configurator defining a products routing and cost
- Coordinate with cost accounting to ensure all manufacturing costs are accurately captured.
- Responsible for all engineering and or welding requirements/processes within the plant
- Coordinate the training, certification, and documentation of all employees standard work
- Plan and maintain documentation system for all manufacturing processes
- All other duties and responsibilities that are reasonably assigned by the employer or its designee.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
- 10+ years experience in manufacturing engineering leadership role
- Robust knowledge of MS office applications including Project and Visio
- Strong understanding of both 2D and 3D cad systems (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex blue prints drawings, electrical schematics
- Understanding of Hydraulic, Electrical and Mechanical process implementation
- Solid communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or Operations/Business management
- SME Certified Manufacturing engineer, CMFGE
- ERP/MRP knowledge and experience
- Microsoft Project planning or PMP certification
- Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing Principles required
- OSHA/Safety Certifications Preferred
