As posted by the hiring company

Job Overview:

Smith Brothers Tool Company is hiring a Manufacturing Estimator to help quote tooling, fixtures, gauges, and precision manufacturing projects for aerospace and industrial customers.

This is a good fit for someone who understands how parts, tooling, and fixtures are made, can read prints or CAD models, and enjoys turning technical requirements into accurate, competitive estimates. Direct aerospace tooling experience is a plus, but we're also interested in candidates with strong estimating, quoting, manufacturing engineering, tool & die, CNC machining, fixture building, or precision fabrication backgrounds.

What you'll do:

Review customer RFQs, blueprints, CAD models, GD&T callouts, and technical specifications.

Build cost estimates for jigs, fixtures, gauges, assembly tools, machined parts, fabricated components, and related tooling projects.

Estimate labor, materials, machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, inspection, outside processing, and purchased components.

Work with engineering, manufacturing, vendors, and subcontractors to confirm manufacturability, timing, and cost assumptions.

Prepare customer quotes, proposals, and supporting documentation.

Maintain estimating records, pricing history, and quote details for future reference.

Support project handoff by helping the team understand scope, assumptions, risks, and key requirements.

What we're looking for:

3+ years of experience in estimating, quoting, manufacturing engineering, CNC machining, tool & die, fixture building, fabrication, or another precision manufacturing role.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, RFQs, and GD&T requirements.

Working knowledge of machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, inspection, materials, and manufacturing labor costs.

Comfortable using spreadsheets, ERP/MRP systems, and Microsoft Office.

Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and follow-through.

Able to work closely with engineering and shop-floor teams to build realistic estimates.

Nice to have:

Experience estimating aerospace tooling, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or complex tooling assemblies.

Experience with CATIA, CAD/CAM software, or 3D models.

Knowledge of AS9100 or aerospace quality requirements.

Background in automotive tooling, defense manufacturing, tool & die, precision machining, or custom manufacturing.

Compensation and benefits:

$80,000 to $100,000 per year, based on experience.

401(k) with company match

Health, dental, and vision insurance

Health Savings Account

Life insurance

Paid time off

Stable, hands-on manufacturing environment with long-term growth opportunities
