Manufacturing Engineering Technician

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician supports manufacturing engineering activities by assisting with CNC machining processes, production improvements, work instruction development, and implementation of manufacturing systems.

This is a 1st shift position, working 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with overtime as production demands require.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Create, revise, and maintain manufacturing work instructions and process documentation.
  • Participate in the Process Change Request (PCR) process by documenting submissions, implementation, progress, and conclusions.
  • Support Manufacturing Engineers with new product launches, process development, tooling implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform CNC machine setup, tooling changes, offsets, and process adjustments as needed.
  • Review CMM inspection results and assist in troubleshooting machining and quality issues.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining production standards.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Production, IT, Maintenance, and suppliers to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.
  • Assist with equipment installation, startup, and validation activities.
  • Train production employees on new equipment, tooling, manufacturing processes, and work instructions.
  • Evaluate manufacturing layouts, workflow, tooling, and equipment to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Utilize SolidWorks or other CAD software to support tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and quality management systems, including IATF 16949:2016.
  • Participate in Open Book Management processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Work is performed in both an office setting and a manufacturing environment. Regular exposure to machining equipment, moving mechanical parts, noise, and varying temperatures should be expected.

The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, climb, and use hands to handle tools and equipment. The employee will work both at a computer workstation and on the manufacturing floor throughout the day and must be able to occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Other qualifications include:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Engineering Technology, CNC Programming, Automotive Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent education and machining experience will be considered.
  • Three to five years of machining experience required.
  • CNC setup and programming experience required.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing engineering projects preferred.
  • Experience creating and maintaining production documentation and work instructions preferred.
  • Strong understanding of machining practices, tooling, GD&T, blueprint reading, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret CMM inspection reports and quality inspection data.
  • Experience using SolidWorks or other CAD software preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/MES or other manufacturing software systems preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience working within an IATF 16949 or ISO quality management system preferred.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
