Manufacturing Engineering Services Supervisor

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
Work Location: On-site | North Logan, UT

About the Role

Spartronics is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Services Supervisor to lead a technical team responsible for providing the engineering information, product configurations, bills of materials, specifications, and technical support required for successful manufacturing execution.

This position leads Configuration Technicians and works closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure production teams have accurate and timely engineering information.

Unlike a traditional manufacturing engineering role focused primarily on equipment or process ownership, this position leads the engineering-services function that supports manufacturing through configuration management, BOM development, engineering changes, product lifecycle support, component analysis, technical documentation, and problem resolution.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical manufacturing experience combined with demonstrated people leadership in electronics manufacturing, aerospace and defense, contract manufacturing, or another regulated production environment.

The Manufacturing Engineering Services Supervisor ensures engineering requirements are translated into clear and accurate manufacturing information while leading the team responsible for resolving configuration, component, documentation, and lifecycle issues that could disrupt production.

This role directly supports manufacturing readiness, production continuity, quality, schedule performance, and customer commitments.

Lead Manufacturing Engineering Services

• Supervise the daily activities of Configuration Technicians and assigned technical personnel.
• Prioritize engineering-support work based on production schedules, manufacturing requirements, customer commitments, and business priorities.
• Assign workloads and monitor productivity, utilization, responsiveness, and completion of technical support activities.
• Ensure manufacturing teams receive timely engineering support needed to maintain production flow.
• Coach, mentor, and develop team members through onboarding, technical training, skills development, and performance management.
• Build team capability through cross-training, documented processes, and clearly defined technical expectations.
• Foster accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and strong internal customer service.

Support Manufacturing Configuration and Technical Readiness

• Ensure manufacturing teams have accurate bills of materials, specifications, product configurations, and technical documentation.
• Support the creation and maintenance of multi-level BOMs for electrical assemblies and associated manufacturing materials.
• Review customer documentation packages and translate technical requirements into actionable manufacturing information.
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, component datasheets, quality notes, and customer requirements.
• Perform or oversee technical component analysis and classification.
• Establish standardized component descriptions, titles, and configuration practices.
• Ensure product and configuration information remains accurate as products move through their lifecycle.
• Support manufacturing readiness activities associated with new and existing programs.

Resolve Production-Support and Technical Issues

• Lead technical investigations involving components, specifications, configuration discrepancies, and manufacturing documentation.
• Investigate non-compliant components, identify root causes, and develop or coordinate appropriate dispositions.
• Research alternate components and technical solutions when parts become unavailable, obsolete, or unsuitable.
• Work with manufacturers, distributors, Supply Chain, Quality, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve technical and material issues.
• Evaluate component lifecycle risks including obsolescence, end-of-life notifications, and product changes.
• Support secondary processes for electronic and electrical components.
• Support component testing, evaluations, experiments, and technical investigations.
• Escalate technical risks that could affect production schedules, material availability, quality, cost, or customer commitments.

Manage Engineering Changes and Manufacturing Documentation

• Review and authorize engineering change orders involving components, specifications, configurations, and manufacturing information.
• Ensure approved engineering changes are accurately incorporated into manufacturing documentation and systems.
• Coordinate changes across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other affected functions.
• Maintain technical documentation related to RoHS, REACH, lead-free finishes, counterfeit-component avoidance, and tin-whisker mitigation.
• Support compliance with applicable customer, industry, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
• Ensure manufacturing configurations remain current with engineering standards and customer requirements.
• Support customer technical reviews, documentation requests, and audits as required.

Partner with Manufacturing and Cross-Functional Teams

• Serve as a key technical partner to Manufacturing and Operations.
• Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Production.
• Provide technical support to resolve issues that could affect manufacturing performance.
• Support new product introduction and manufacturing-readiness activities.
• Participate in sustaining-engineering and product-lifecycle-management activities.
• Identify opportunities to simplify engineering-support processes, improve data accuracy, reduce manufacturing disruptions, improve quality, and reduce cost.
• Support implementation of improved engineering systems, tools, processes, and technologies.
• Provide technical support to internal and external customers when required.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of engineering, technical, manufacturing, product-support, or related experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of supervisory, team-lead, project-leadership, or personnel-management experience.
• Experience supporting manufacturing engineering operations within electronics manufacturing services, contract manufacturing, aerospace and defense, industrial manufacturing, or another relevant production environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, engineering documentation, product configurations, bills of materials, product lifecycle management, and engineering change management.
• Ability to interpret customer documentation packages, engineering drawings, specifications, component datasheets, and quality requirements.
• Experience developing or maintaining multi-level bills of materials for electrical assemblies and associated manufacturing materials.
• Knowledge of electronic and electrical components and component-quality requirements.
• Experience addressing component lifecycle, obsolescence, alternate-part, or supply-related technical issues.
• Knowledge of counterfeit-component avoidance, tin-whisker mitigation, RoHS, and REACH requirements.
• Strong leadership, organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage personnel, competing technical priorities, and manufacturing-support requirements in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with ERP systems, PLM systems, engineering software, CAD tools, and business-management systems.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across manufacturing and engineering functions.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment regarding customer, technical, and organizational information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience supporting electronics manufacturing, printed circuit board assembly, electromechanical assembly, box build, contract manufacturing, aerospace and defense, medical device, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting new product introduction, manufacturing readiness, sustaining engineering, or production transition activities.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, operational excellence, or continuous-improvement methodologies.
• Experience supporting customer technical reviews, audits, and regulatory-compliance requirements.
• Professional Engineer, PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, or other relevant professional certification.
• Experience using SiliconExpert and Arena or comparable engineering, PLM, or component-lifecycle platforms.

Compensation: This is an Exempt position with an annual salary of $95,000-$130,000 based on experience. Compensation will be based on relevant experience, education, technical expertise, and leadership experience, including experience in manufacturing engineering, electronics manufacturing, component engineering, engineering operations, and related regulated manufacturing environments.
