Position Summary: The Manufacturing Engineer Manager adds value to BAPI and the Manufacturing Engineering Team by developing and implementing cost effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and standards.

The Manufacturing Engineer Manage oversees the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to maintain proper product functionality as well as cost efficiency. Responsible for installation and improvement of production lines, managing contractors or vendors as needed in support of the assembly area. Provides input into developing the manufacturing budget. Implement and manage continuous improvement principles by identifying deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices or processes.

Manufacturing Engineer Manager Principle Responsibilities    

Work with Manufacturing Engineering team members and improve processes within BAPI to increase efficiency and reduce product cost.

  1. Improve BAPI’s manufacturing productivity and quality:
  2. Support data collection and analysis to perform Root Cause Analysis and implement Corrective Action(s);
  3. Identify and provide cost benefit analysis for equipment acquisitions to increase efficiency and/or quality;
  4. Participate in the Design For Manufacturing (DFM) process from Preliminary Design Review to product launch;
  5. Drive Continuous Improvement activities in quality, cycle times, process improvement, and machine availability to enhance the capability of existing processes and reduce or eliminate waste. Analyze and improve material usage. Analyze downtime, identify trends and develop solutions;
  6. Design, support and maintain fixtures, jigs and production aids. Oversee the Additive Manufacturing and Machine Shop efforts.
  7. Provide manufacturing decision-making information by:
  8. Calculating material costs, production and labor costs through time studies;
  9. Identifying, implementing, and estimating Production improvement processes;
  10. Collecting, analyzing, and preparing process and product reports monthly to report manufacturing trends.
  11. Manage the development of Work Instructions (WIs) for BAPI’s manufacturing processes to ensure accuracy of all Manufacturing Procedures and documentation.
  12. Support ISO 9001 in collaboration with the Quality Assurance Manager:
  13. Maintain revision control on documentation and forms issued by Manufacturing Eng. Dept.
  14. Support the implementation and future maintenance of the Quality System

Manage, oversee, lead and develop the department and work groups which includes but not limited to:

  1. Assisting, supporting and providing planning and vision for department and committees (i.e. BAPI Safety Committee): 
  2. Coordinating the work activities of others as needed and identify the work related skills of supervisees to coach, mentor and/or assist them in improving their work knowledge, skills and performance
  3. Coordinating and manage manufacturing engineering projects, make detailed plans to accomplish goals, and identify the resources responsible for the actions required. Track project to completion and manage resource time
  4. Hiring, orienting/training/evaluating and provide or encourage additional training as needed and perform 
  5. Complying with and ensuring direct reports comply with company policies, procedures and initiatives
  6. Conducting and completing employee 90 day and annual reviews according to policy
  7. Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files, develop and present reports, etc.
  8. Promoting a productive, motivated, collaborative and innovative work environment.
  9. Manage Departmental PO Approvals, Budget development and expense tracking

Plan and implement production flow for new BAPI products.

  1. Lead the team in new product and process introduction
  2. Evaluate effects of product design changes by designing & testing manufacturing methods and equipment
  3. Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout

Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs); Set up Work Centers, Operations, Routes, determine Labor, and provide MRP/ERP Support.

Proactively address BAPI facility and machine maintenance requirements:

  1. Ensure the maintenance of drawings and implement improvements for layout of equipment, materials, and workspace for maximum efficiency, using CAD/CAM drafting tools
  2. Coordinate and interface with equipment vendors that are conducting work within the BAPI facility
  3. Across manufacturing floor and processes, comply with OSHA safety and environmental policies and/or regulations
  4. Support and track data using the maintenance tracking/work order system

Partner/Collaborate with Senior Leadership Team and other leaders

  1. Participate in leadership meetings and attends other meetings as required
  2. Collaborate in developing Company Goals and Culture; align with Company Mission, Vision and Values
  3. Recommend new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements
  4. Engage in Succession Planning
  5. Work with diverse stakeholders and build strong, collaborative relationships. Collaborate with leaders having competing agendas and priorities across multiple departments to achieve the best outcome for BAPI


Maintain industry knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes; review related publications; establish networks.


Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects and tasks as delegated supervisor.


Requirements

 Manufacturing Engineer Manager  Education Requirements (R/Required, P/Preferred):

 (R) Bachelor’s Degree

 (P) Master’s Degree

Degrees Preferred: Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, other technical discipline


 Manufacturing Engineer Manager  Training, Skills, Knowledge and Experience

Specific Training in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred):

  1. (R) Proven Management Experience of a minimum of 10 Direct Reports (2+years);
  2. (R) Training/experience in electrical/electronics (2+ Years);
  3. (R) Training/experience in mechanical engineering (2+ Years);
  4. (P) Training/ Experience in efficiency of assembly methods and manufacturing systems.


Experience/Knowledge in this field (R/Required, P/Preferred): 

  1. (R) Experience working in an electrical/electronics manufacturing facility (2+ Years);
  2. (R) Mechanical Experience in a manufacturing facility (2+ Years);
  3. (P) Experience in soldering small electronic parts.
