We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer Intern who will contribute to the success of the Operations Team, applying their knowledge in engineering to support the achievement of team and company goals and deliver innovative, reliable solutions. In this role, the successful candidate will collaborate effectively with colleagues and cross-functional teams, demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and maintain a commitment to professional excellence, quality and continuous improvement.
The Role
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will support the Manufacturing Engineering team in driving operational excellence initiatives aligned to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity, and 5S (SQDIP). This internship provides hands-on experience in Lean deployment, Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementation, model line development, and productivity/quality performance improvement within a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment. The role is highly collaborative and execution-focused, supporting key strategic initiatives that directly impact customer satisfaction and operational performance.
Job Responsibilities
Manufacturing Performance & Metrics
Support rollout and standardization of Productivity Metrics across selected product lines
Assist with implementation and validation of First Pass Yield (FPY) measurement and reporting
Collect, analyze, and present performance data to support fact-based decision making
Help develop visual management tools to improve performance transparency
Lean / Model Line Support
Support execution of two Model Line Kaizen events for critical product lines
Assist in documenting standard work and process improvements
Participate in Value Stream improvement activities
Support implementation of Built-In-Quality (BIQ) concepts within model lines
Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
Support MES content creation, configuration, and documentation
Assist with work instruction digitization and data capture optimization
Help validate MES workflows to ensure accuracy and usability
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure successful rollout
Continuously evaluate processes for improvements in efficiency, quality, and safety

Required Qualifications
Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Electrical, or related discipline)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general data analysis
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles
Interest in Operational Excellence or Manufacturing Systems
Experience with data visualization or ERP/MES systems
Familiarity with process mapping or value stream mapping
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This role primarily operates in a manufacturing environment. Must be able to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods of time
Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required
