Job Description

Works under Manufacturing Engineering / Operations management instructions and standard procedures to set-up, troubleshoot and problem solve Manufacturing CNC machines, Automated Fabrication Systems, and programming, to support MiTek Automation products and production issues.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

General Description:

  • Manufacturing Engineering role is responsible creation and maintenance of production, machinery procedures, creating, and maintaining standard work, optimizing existing and future manufacturing processes, providing technical support to front line personnel.

  • Collaborating with all functional groups on all MiTek products, serving as a Direction Lead for Manufacturing Engineering Technicians and manufacturing production personnel on CNC Machinery and/or Automated Fabrication Systems while supporting MiTek’s Quality Plan.

  • Write Funding Approval Request (FAR) proposal efforts as required to ensure sufficient operations budgets are included in all offers.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in CNC and Robotics programming, controls, knowledge of fabrication areas, also are capable of training and directing the work of others.

  • Attends/participates in meetings completes special projects/miscellaneous assignments as needed directed by Manufacturing Engineering Management.

Production Functions:

  • Own Manufacturing Engineering part and process Design Review of engineered part drawings for product and process manufacturability.

  • Development and/or implementation of part programming/nesting, tooling, and fixturing to support Production for product and process manufacturing.

  • ERP system Maintenance for managing product structures/BOMs, routings and revision levels for MiTek Automation Machinery parts.

  • Work with Quality Engineering to develop capable processes to support and maintain a continuous flow of quality products for MiTek Automation Machinery parts.

  • Identify/Assist, support, and lead actions for implementing cost improvements/lean projects.

  • Production floor engagement to exceed 50% of total time

  • Owns use of machinery, tooling and processes to assure maximum tool utilization, production capable tolerances, and expedient processing of materials.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering related field. Minimum 2-4 years of Experience with CNC mill and lathe automation, as well as Automated Fabrication Systems (Laser, Plasma cutting) along with relevant programming techniques. Use of conventional hand tools, and power tools, with relevant process improvement techniques, quality systems, and manufacturing experience required.

  • Material prep utilizing metal cutting equipment (saw, oxy/acetylene torch/laser/plasma cutting), for preparation of project materials.

  • Able to follow instructions, read, interpret, and troubleshoot engineering drawings and other technical documentation.

  • Follow Safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe work environment for self and others

  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MasterCAM, and SIGMANEST are essential.

  • Strong organizational communication skills.

  • Detail oriented with the ability to work independently or within a team.
